And with the rising cost of school supplies, organizers of the event say the need is growing more.
And today's education matters.
Today, we're here for our annual back to school rally, where we provide over 4000 backpacks in 15 different neighborhood sites to families and youth in our community.
Price of everything has gone up.
And so for families who can't necessarily always afford this.
The supply list that's distributed, we want to be a little bit of a help to our families, our youth, our community by providing some basic supplies for kids.
So you get a backpack, you get some notebook, paper journals are older kids get composition notebooks as well as a binder, paper, pencils, crayons, markers, really the basic supplies to get them started off on the right list.
You've been doing this for this our 10th year now, and it just keeps getting better every year.
And we just kind of supported it financially.
And that was that was easy.
And what we really want to do was support it from start to finish.
We wanted to pack the backpacks.
And so you seem to go to the end user, and I think that's just very gratifying and just building in and really working.
You love to compete on Friday night, but these are not prouder moments as a football coach to see our guys get up and come out here and serve with the doors.
Are a.
Few years ago we got to actually go to the park where they hand out the backpacks to the kids.
They're receiving them for school that year.
And that was just, I think what made it so much fun for us and really made it worth it and why we come back every year because just seeing how excited they were to get those backpacks and they're there with all their friends and just seeing that it was something that made them excited to go back to school and get them all started off on a good note and prepared for its near Miss Phillips.
When we first started, it was just a small number.
It seemed the families are more kids there, but it's been nice to see the families become more involved.
And then I think that kind of bridges the gap between school and parents.
But they have a really cool dance.
They've got music, food and food trucks.
And I mean, it's a it's not just kind of a drive thru type thing.
It's it's all kinds of things.
It's it's really neat.
It's like a back to school BASH.
Yes, it's really fun.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then back to school.
BASH Students in Fayette Jessamine and Franklin counties are eligible to receive a backpack.
The backpacks will be distributed tomorrow at back to school rallies in those counties.
